Founder Haddy’s father, Addie, passed away in 2010. He was a very knowledgeable and noble man, a teacher who believed in the power and importance of education, and guided Haddy, her friends and many other children in the Gambia.
Haddy wanted to do something to honour her father and continue his legacy, so she created Addie’s 2022 Vision.
What is Addie’s 2022 Vision?
Sub-Sahara Africa has the fastest population growth projected between now and 2050. It also suffers from the highest youth poverty in the world. There are many reasons for this, but for us, the key fundamental factor is the absence of career development and career guidance for young people.
Addie’s 2022 Vision is to drastically alleviate children suffering from poverty. Our goal is to build career development and career guidance in every region within the Gambia, the smallest country in Africa, by 2022.
To achieve this, we are working in line with the United Nations’ poverty reduction goal. We want to ensure that every child at the age of 14 has the opportunity to and resources to develop the key skills*, practical working experience and aptitude they need to seek employment, higher education and opportunities.
Addie’s 2022 Vision is life changing for young people, enabling them to improve the standard of living for themselves and their families for the long term. We believe this will play a big role in reducing poverty rates in children.
